Lake District Castle Inn hotel & Spa is a historic property built in 1770, set on the banks of Bassenthwaite Lake — one of the quietest and least-developed of the Lake District's major lakes. The hotel offers a full spa with sauna, steam room, indoor pool, and health club, alongside a restaurant, bar, and room service, making it a self-contained retreat in Cumbria's northern fell country. Bassenthwaite Lake is notable as the only lake in the Lake District officially called a 'lake' (the others are meres and waters), and the surrounding estate provides access to birding, horse riding, fishing, golf, and cycling. The town of Keswick lies five miles to the south, with its market centre, Derwentwater shoreline, Castlerigg Stone Circle, and Theatre by the Lake. Skiddaw—Cumbria's third highest fell at 931 metres—rises directly east of the inn, accessible from nearby paths.
