About the Hotel
Sequoyah National Golf Club is owned by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and occupies a ridge above Tellico Lake in Monroe County — the edge of the Tennessee Valley where the Great Smoky Mountains begin their climb toward the Blue Ridge. The resort is named for Sequoyah, the Cherokee scholar who created the syllabary that gave the Cherokee people a written language in 1821. The golf course, designed by Robert Trent Jones II, plays along the ridgelines above the lake with views of the Smokies in one direction and Tellico Lake in the other. The spa includes Finnish sauna, steam, and massage; the resort's Cherokee cultural interpretation programs offer a depth of engagement with the history and traditions of one of America's most remarkable indigenous nations. The Ocoee River whitewater and the Cherokee National Forest are within easy driving distance.
