The Inn at Shelburne Farms

The Inn at Shelburne Farms occupies the Queen Anne-style mansion built by Dr. William Seward Webb and Lila Vanderbilt Webb in the 1890s as the centerpiece of their 1,400-acre Lake Champlain farm estate. The property is a National Historic Landmark and now operates as a working nonprofit educational farm — cheesemaking, heritage breeds, market garden — with the inn as its centerpiece. The spa sauna overlooks Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks across the water, in a setting that combines Gilded Age architecture, working farm life, and the specific quality of Lake Champlain light. Guests at the Inn at Shelburne Farms are inhabiting one of the most historically significant private estates in Vermont.
