About the Hotel
Mohonk Mountain House is one of America's great Victorian resort hotels, a turreted castle perched atop the Shawangunk Ridge above a glacially-formed sky lake in the Hudson Valley, family-owned by the Smiley family since 1869 and continuously operated without interruption for over 150 years. The setting is extraordinary: the mountain house sits at 1,240 feet above sea level on a rock ledge above Mohonk Lake, surrounded by 40,000 acres of preserved forest and 85 miles of carriage roads and hiking trails. The 30,000-square-foot spa features Finnish-style sauna, steam room, hot tubs, and an indoor pool, while the outdoor landscape offers naturally frigid winter air and mountain spring bathing. The property operates year-round — in winter, ice skating on the lake and cross-country skiing; in fall, the Hudson Valley's most spectacular foliage.
