About
Tutka Bay Lodge is accessible only by water taxi from Homer — there is no road. The lodge sits on the edge of Kachemak Bay, one of the most productive marine ecosystems in Alaska, with glacier-fed waters, sea otters, orcas, and bear-populated shorelines visible from the dock. The wood-fired sauna extends over the tidal flat on a platform deck, and guests move from heat to cold by descending steps directly into Kachemak Bay — one of the most spectacular cold plunge settings in North America, with Kenai Mountains across the water. The lodge is affiliated with Kirsten Dixon's culinary program, which has earned James Beard Award recognition; sauna and extraordinary food combine in an Alaska wilderness setting unreachable by road.
