About
Iniakuk Lake Wilderness Lodge sits on an impossibly remote lake north of the Arctic Circle, accessible only by floatplane from Bettles into the Gates of the Arctic National Park region. This is true Arctic Alaska — the Brooks Range rises around the lake in serrated ridges that have seen almost no human presence beyond the Koyukon Athabascan people who have inhabited these lands for millennia. The wood-fired sauna on the lake shore is the beating heart of the lodge experience: heat the birch-fired sauna, wade into the Arctic lake, then dry off under skies that in winter display the Northern Lights in their most spectacular form. Guided activities include caribou watching, dog mushing in winter, kayaking the lake, and hiking in the trackless backcountry. A maximum of 10 guests ensures complete privacy and personalized naturalist guiding.
