About the Hotel
Hotel Jerome opened in 1889 at the height of Aspen's silver mining boom and has operated as the social and cultural anchor of Aspen ever since — hosting Hunter S. Thompson, John Denver, and three generations of the ski industry's founding figures. The Auberge-managed property features a spa sauna in a Victorian building that has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1986. The Jerome Bar, where Colorado's aprés-ski culture was effectively invented, is steps from the spa entrance, making the sauna-to-bar sequence here a genuinely historic act. At 7,908 feet in Aspen's downtown, the high-altitude sauna delivers physiological benefits amplified by the thin air.
