About the Hotel
The Swan at Grasmere is a traditional Lakeland inn built in 1650, standing on Keswick Road in the village of Grasmere — one of the Lake District's most celebrated communities and the home of William Wordsworth from 1799 to 1813. Part of The Inn Collection Group, the hotel provides a restaurant, bar and lounge, and a garden with outdoor terrace, making it a congenial base for exploring the central Lake District.
Grasmere village sits between the lake of Grasmere and Rydal Water to the south, with Loughrigg Fell rising immediately west. Wordsworth's Dove Cottage and the Grasmere Gingerbread Shop are both on foot, and the Coffin Route walking path connects the village to Rydal and Ambleside through the Wordsworth valley. Helm Crag — the distinctive 'Lion and the Lamb' summit — is accessible directly from the village. Coniston Water, Windermere, and the Langdale Pikes are all within twenty minutes by car.
