ICEHOTEL

ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjärvi is one of the world's most iconic hotels, founded in 1989 as the very first ice hotel on the planet. Every winter it is rebuilt from ice taken from the neighbouring Torne River, and artists from all over the world are invited to create unique sculptural suites of ice and snow. The experience is completely unique: sleeping in a suite carved out of ice, surrounded by artistic ice reliefs and wrapped in a sleeping bag on a reindeer hide, is something you never forget. At night the northern lights dance across the sky, and in the morning a traditional Finnish sauna and warm broth await to warm you up again. ICEHOTEL 365 is the permanent ice section, with cooling that keeps the ice fresh year-round. Activities include dog-sledding, reindeer experiences, snowmobile tours, and river fishing in one of the Nordic region's most beautiful natural landscapes.
