About
Sommerro opened in 2022 inside a listed 1930s Art Deco building that was the former headquarters of Oslo's municipal electricity company, and it runs two distinct sauna experiences under one roof. The ground-floor Vestkantbadet — a restored 1930s public bathhouse — offers a Finnish sauna, an infrared sauna, a cold plunge pool, and a heritage Roman bath converted to cold plunge. Above it, Sommerro houses Oslo's first rooftop pool and sauna, a year-round destination with sweeping views over the city.
The wellness program at Sommerro is the most ambitious of any Oslo hotel. Vestkantbadet is one of Norway's most important examples of Art Deco interiors and functions as both a hotel amenity and a membership bathhouse, so you're sharing the space with serious sauna people, not tourists. The 400-square-meter gym rounds out the fitness side. Upstairs, the rooftop sauna pairs with the pool for a contrast-bathing experience with a panoramic Oslo view.
Sommerro is the Oslo choice for travelers who want a heritage spa AND a rooftop sauna in the same hotel, wrapped in Art Deco luxury.
