About the Hotel
Svinøya Rorbuer is one of Lofoten's most authentic and tradition-rich places to stay — a collection of historic rorbuer (fisherman's cabins) on the sea on Svinøya island, just outside central Svolvær. The cabins date back to the late 1800s and were used as accommodation for fishermen during Lofoten's famous cod season across generations.
Each cabin has been renovated with modern facilities while keeping its historic character intact, and many have a private sauna — an essential experience after a day in the arctic climate. Many cabins also have terraces with views over the sea and the Lofoten wall, pillowtop beds, and comfortable furnishings in the traditional style. Free WiFi is available in all cabins.
The complex has a restaurant with a focus on local seafood — including skrei (Lofoten cod) that has made the region world-famous — and gives easy access to Svolvær's attractions: sea-eagle safari, kayaking, glacier hiking, and the midnight sun in summer or the northern lights in winter. Svinøya Rorbuer is an ideal base for both active exploration and quiet cabin retreats in northern Norway.
