Dr. Holms Hotel

Dr. Holms Hotel has been Geilo's most distinguished address since 1909, when the medical doctor Christian Holm opened it as a mountain sanatorium on the Hardangervidda plateau. More than a century later it remains the benchmark for mountain wellness in Norway — a ski-in/ski-out hotel on the Geilo slopes with a spa that draws directly from that sanatorium tradition of restorative mountain air, thermal bathing, and physical recovery. The Alpine Spa complex runs across two floors with two spring-fed indoor pools, saunas, jacuzzis, a steam room, and panoramic mountain views from the pool deck. In winter you can ski directly to the hotel entrance, drop your equipment, and be in the sauna within minutes. The hotel offers three restaurants, including the fine-dining Holms restaurant where Norwegian produce takes centre stage. Dr. Holms is the reason travellers make a specific trip to Geilo rather than simply passing through. The combination of historic character, direct ski access, and serious wellness facilities is difficult to match anywhere in the Norwegian mountains.
