Casa Habita, Guadalajara, a Member of Design Hotels

Casa Habita is the Guadalajara member of Design Hotels — a low-slung 1950s mid-century house in Colonia Lafayette retrofitted into a thirty-six-room hotel by Mexican architecture studio Estudio MMX, with custom furniture commissioned from regional makers and a permanent rotation of contemporary Jaliscan art. The spa is small but deliberately so: a single treatment suite, a sauna, a steam room and a sunken courtyard pool framed by jacaranda trees — the wellness equivalent of the kitchen at a friend's house that happens to be very good. The Avenida México restaurant strip, the Lafayette design district and the Chapultepec nightlife corridor are all within ten minutes on foot; the Estadio Akron (Guadalajara's WC2026 venue) is a 25-minute taxi.
