About the Hotel
Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden is housed in a Baroque palace originally built in the 1700s by Saxon king August the Strong. After extensive restoration the property reopened as Dresden's finest five-star address — and its location, directly between the Zwinger and the Royal Palace, is hard to overstate.
The spa sits on the fifth floor of the palace and includes a 5x11 metre indoor pool heated to 28°C year-round, a traditional sauna, and a modern fitness studio. The combination of a Baroque palace exterior and a contemporary pool floor is one of the more memorable contrasts in German hotel wellness — a quiet counterpoint to the cultural intensity of the city outside.
The position in Dresden's old town is unmatched for sightseeing: Zwinger, the Semper Opera, the Royal Palace, Frauenkirche, and the Elbe promenade are all within a short walk. The hotel has restaurant, café, and the Karl May Bar on site, and the 213 rooms in classic palace style round out one of Saxony's most prestigious stays.
