About the Hotel
Hotel Heikenberg is a Kneipp-Bund affiliated spa hotel in Bad Lauterberg im Harz, a traditional Kur town in the Lower Saxon Harz mountains. The hotel was built in 1964 and is sized for proper Kur stays: rooftop terrace, garden, library, picnic area, restaurant, coffee shop and a 6,458 sq ft conference centre across one building.
The wellness side is one of the most complete in the area — full-service spa, sauna, steam room, indoor pool, massage and treatment rooms, plus fitness centre and yoga classes. Outside, the Harz delivers what the region is built for: hiking and biking trails, mountain biking, sledding in winter and hot springs nearby. Ecotours and fishing are within easy reach. The Kneipp tradition (cold-water cures, herbal medicine) is core to Bad Lauterberg's identity.
The Harz is northern Germany's mountain spine — witches, the Brocken peak and dense forest dominate the local folklore. Bad Lauterberg makes a good base for long-stay Kur travel, walking holidays and active families looking for an old-school mountain Kur experience.
