About the Hotel
Hotel Astoria is a spa and wellness guesthouse on T. G. Masaryka 388 in Jáchymov, the world's first radon spa town, situated in the Krušné Hory mountains of the Karlovy Vary region in north-west Bohemia. Jáchymov's radon spa tradition dates to 1906, when the town — historically known as Sankt Joachimsthal in German — became the site of the world's first therapeutic use of radon-enriched thermal water following Marie and Pierre Curie's discovery of radium from local silver mine ore in 1898. The town also gives its name to the Joachimsthaler coin, the forerunner of the dollar.
Hotel Astoria offers spa services, access to an indoor pool, and bicycle and ski storage, with cross-country skiing and snowboarding available nearby at Klínovec — the highest peak in the Krušné Hory UNESCO World Heritage mining landscape. Free buffet breakfast is served daily, and the hotel has a terrace and playground for families. Tour assistance, multilingual staff, and luggage storage are available.
The hotel is within walking distance of the Bertha Sanatorium and the historic spa promenade, and cycling trails through the protected Krušné Hory landscape are accessible from the door.
