Visby is the capital of Gotland, Sweden's largest island in the Baltic Sea and a UNESCO World Heritage site for its preserved medieval ring wall and Hanseatic old town. Its sauna scene is smaller and more seasonal than mainland Sweden but benefits from the island's unique Baltic coast access. Hotel saunas serve the year-round visitor base; summer sees temporary harbour sauna operations during Gotland's peak season (July–August). The Baltic reaches 20°C in summer, making cold plunges comfortable. Swedish etiquette throughout; the island character gives sessions a quieter, more remote feel.
Wisby Strand resort (Gotlands Spa) is Visby's main spa hotel with Finnish sauna and pool facing the Baltic. Bästeträsk lake (1 hour north) has outdoor sauna rentals.
Visby is a UNESCO-listed medieval walled city on the Baltic island of Gotland. Post-sauna walks through 13th-century ruins and rose gardens give the cultural setting a character unavailable anywhere else in Scandinavia.
Gotland has the warmest sea water in Sweden — Visby's protected harbour bays reach 22–24°C in July. Cold plunges in summer are mild rather than extreme.
