Marks is a municipality in Västra Götaland, inland from Gothenburg in the Sjuhärad textile region of West Sweden. Its sauna culture draws on the river and lake network — public bastus along the Viskan river and at the municipality's lakes, and the Swedish outdoor bathing tradition woven into West Swedish rural life. The Sjuhärad area, historically Sweden's textile heartland around Borås and Kinna, has a working-class industrial character that makes its wellness scene practical and unpretentious.
